Comments: Today Roger Stowell , former vice principal of BAHS was sentenced to 17 1/2 years in federal prison for charges of child pornography. He admitted his guilt, and was also found to have molested a boy in Darmstat, in 1969, as well as Lum, in 1982. He especially "liked" 13 year old boys to prey upon. Our wonderful DODDS system just moved him to BERLIN after the Darmstadt incident, and fired him for the BERLIN incident. He collected a huge settlement in a lawsuit apppealing th eBERLIN incident, because they failed to fire him properly by trial, and then firing. So, we taxpayers paid him for his embarrassment when he was fired for molesteding young boys.. Can you tell I am a little angry over this?

Comments: I was recently saddened to find out about Lum Culliton (87). Shortly after I first arrived to BERLIN in Sept of 85 I dated Lum. It was only for a short time but the memories are there. Even though we broke up we remained friends. I never knew that he was in Sierra Vista Arizona during the same time I was. After leaving BERLIN in Sept of 89 my dad was stationed at Ft Huachua Arizona. Lum will be greatly missed.

Comments: Anonymous Jones (1969) was asking about a couple of things, here's my contribution.
The duty train - if you never got a cinder in your eye from sticking your head out of the window then you either never rode it or missed a dubious right of passage. I actually have one of those small wooden frames with glass and the "rules" that were screwed onto the wall by the windows.
Frankfurt Bahnhof - How many key-ring (or larger) switchblades and assorted treasures did you buy on those trips through there.
AYA - What a deal for $.25 cents a week (something like that) membership dues. Just about the the social centers of our limited universe. If I recall, Lee Angel had his own pool cue.

Comments: In rememberance of my son, Lum Culliton, class of '87, I want to let the kids who were at BAHS in the late 70's and early 80's to know that The Vice Principal, Roger Stowell has finally been convicted of child poronography possession. He was involved in an International Child Porn ring, and plead guilty to this lesser charge. If any of you were molested by him, as my son was, your experience can be validated. To the teachers who supported Lum, Thank you! To those who harrassed him, thinking he was a liar.... Shame! Lum died n 1995.
Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges
TAMPA - A 72-year-old man who needed earphones to hear the court proceedings pleaded guilty Thursday to possessing child pornography.
Roger Stowell was arrested at Tampa International Airport in April after returning from a trip to Peru. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jay Hoffer told U.S. Magistrate Mark Pizzo that when Stowell was arrested, he had with him a computer thumb drive containing images of child pornography.
Stowell's wife and children had alerted authorities when they found child pornography on his computer, authorities said. Investigators reported finding thousands of images of child porn on Stowell's

Comments: Wow, this was fun, what a blast from the past. Pulled out the yearbook to use as a reference for "period" clothing for a party going to this evening....what a relief, turns out "costume" optional...not sure where I could have found such "cool" clothes...and fell into a bout of nostalgia!
I attended from 77-81 (8th-11th) and my older brother Chris graduated in 79 from BERLIN. Our dad, Roland, was a/the Vice Principal at TAR during that same time period. Our Mom substitute taught at the BAHS, occasionally in classes where we were students...this was not always a good thing!
Anyway, since I was there so long, too many names I still fondly recall from the year book to list here but would be fun to say HI to you if you remember me...

I grew up in Bldg 49 Apartment #2 Next door to the Hadocks in New dupple. Was one of the first in the new housing. We lived in Old Dupple before that. I went to both TAR and 1 year at BAHS. I am in the years book for 1985.

I have yet to meet up with anyone form my time in BERLIN, with the exception of Tim eech, who was stationed in TX with us. Ord California where I attended school through high school graduation. My memories of BERLIN and the friends that I made have stayed clearly in my mind all of these years. Traveling through the Russian sector by car or train was frightening as Russian soldiers harrassed us. Cold war beginning. We lived in a beautiful house in Dahlem on In Der Halde Strasse. Comments: Oh my goodness! I love this site! The memories came flooding back. Duty train adventures, old flames, historic sites and lots of shopping. Unfortunately, I didn't graduate from BAHS, my father was reassigned to Indianapolis,the last half of my junior year. But I attended TAR and BAHS from 1980 through Mar87. I was more of a "behind the scenes" person, who didn't belong to a click, but knew what many were up to. Had tons of fun in choir as the only female tenor learning the ropes from Rob Ahrens, Alan Robinson and Ari Sri. Enjoyed Spanish with Sophien Gordah and Jon Perriello. Loved Mr. Bluem, when he wasn't nailing me for "wingin'" his class. I still ask people for "32 seconds" of time (common Mr. Bleum phrase, like "ya-hear?") I remember a trip to England,Ireland and Wales, when Joey "Throw-up" Thurman lost it on the bus and Smurf's mom told him to give Joey one of his shirts. I remember the aftermath of the huge toga party and participating in the lunch boycott against shutting down tthe Bear's Den (candy/supplies concession stand).
I seldom cross paths with those from BERLIN, but love the memories, so feel free to e-mail me. I currently live in a suburb of Indy, married to an avid race fan. Yes, I go to the 500 race every year. We have three children and love to travel. Someone let me know about an upcoming reunion, I would love to attend.

Comments: It's amazing how memories flood back after so many years. I didn't graduate BAHS, my sister Debbie and I headed back to the States in 75. I attended TAR in the 6th grade, and then 7th, 8th, and 9th at the high school. My closest friend was Steve McCarthy, although I have not been able to locate him or Carol Hailey. I did see Bill Bourbo's post but wonder if he would remember me. Well, if it joggs anyones memory, my right hand is missing the tops of my fingers.

Comments: Great Site! I lived in BERLIN and played Little League baseball for the BERLIN Bulls 1956 and took first place in that league. What wonderful memories. My two older brothers caused my Dad so much trouble something about the maids, we were moved to Hanau to finish the school year where I played Football for the Hanua Hawks. We also won the league that year undefeted 10-0 Beating the Bamberg Raider 20 to 16 for the championship. No I didn't remember I found an old Hanua Commumity Digest. (Grin) I knew we had a special childhood I just didn't understand how special it was until I look back now. Any old friends and class mates please contact me I love to revisit the old days they don't make them like that any more.Folks like King Romaka, Johnny Pingree, Jim Grabicki, Jim Tillton,and any of the guys we played against from 1956 to 1959. We also enjoyed a wining season with American Legion Baseball with Coach Larry Deforge and kids like the Green boy's Was & Red Larry Blanton and so many more I hope some of you guys are still alive and putter ready.

Comments: Hello everyone! I went to TAR from 82-84 and had Ms. Zibalski for 5th grade and Ms. DeRouselle (whom I recently tracked down) for 6th grade. Then I was at BAHS through 9th grade and then switched to JFK-I'm such a traitor!! I stayed there until graduation in 1990. There are so many people I think about and maybe someone knows what's happened to some of these people: Stephanie Pyrek, Bridgette Seymour, Jeannie Londeree, John Russell, Sean Moore, Marissa Johnson, Lena Solomon, Jenny Nousen, Andy Feutz, Cristi Blackmon (best shortstop ever!!), Jennifer Allan, Wendy Davidson, Donna Reilley... ok, so basically everyone.

I spent half of my Senior year in K-town and graduated from Lawton High School in Lawton, OK. I lost all cheerleading pictures and pictures of my friends. This was so much fun. Thanks to all who made this possible. To update everyone. I have been married 3 times. I divorced my 1st one that I met in Germany and had 6 kids by. #2 was just #2. Third is a charm. Comments: hello to all! was just surfing around and found this site. i remember looking at it a few years back and made a few inquiries about former classmates but got no responses. thought i'd fire off a few lines now to see if this time around i might get lucky. i attended BAHS from 74-76...but stayed in BERLIN, for the most part, till '81.
i've been looking for years for my fellow classmate and good friend, carol lamar, as well as other friends i've falled out of touch with thru time. if anybody has any info about carol...i would very much appreciate hearing from you.

i've been back to BERLIN a handful of times since i moved to the states in '81. if you havent been back since the wall came down, i can tell you you really ought'a make the trip. its a completely different city. i've half considered moving back permanently... if you've been there, you know: there is no other place on earth like BERLIN.
i'm currently living in western massachusetts (where i moved to from d.c. in '94). been here now about 13 years, and its just time for a change. havent decided yet where exactly... been toying with the idea of maybe the d.c. area again...but, we'll see.

Comments: What a fun trip down memory lane! See what happens when you google yourself, you find your name listed on the BERLIN Brats site. I didn't even know this site existed till today.
My family was stationed in BERLIN from 1970- 73, my Dad was with the US Military Liasion Mission. We lived in the Sundgauer Strasse (sp?) apartments along with the Martels, Kincaids, Lesters and many others.
Anyway, I had a lovely browse, saw some old familiar faces and it all brought up some great memories:
(1) The Duty Train to football games. Lets see how many people we can get in to one sleeping cabin at one time, yikes!
(2) Ice Cream booth at lunchtime.
(3) Pep Squad activities.
(4) My crushes on upper classmen, different one every other week; Pat, John, Ray. Sorry guys, I swear I wasn't stalking you.
(5) My gaggle of gal pals: Rita, Doris, Paige, Patty, Joann, Kathy...
(7) Trampoline classes during P.E.
(8) The Volksfest, luv those brauts, spiral turnips, and candy.
Anyway, Army Brat life was good as you all know. The social, cultural and culinary aspects of life we were all able to experience has hopefully made us all in to well rounded and fulfilled people.

Comments: Currently, I am living in San Antonio, TX. I have lived here since May 2000. I am still in touch with Jim Hernandez's family (Also Class of '88, a BERLIN Brat and living in San Antonio). After BERLIN my family PCS'ed to Goodfellow AFB, in San Angelo Texas (1984). I joined the army ('88 - '92, Gulf War vet '90-'91). I then graduated from Angelo State University ('98) w/ BS in Chemistry and a MS in Network Security ('06). I just had my first child, Isabela Sofia and she is the joy of my life.

Comments: Hey! Great site! I stumbled on this by accident. I didn't gradutate from BAHS but I went to TAR '65/'66 and then BAHS from '66 to '72. I, like many others, was very saddened by the death of Mr. Sullivan. I have so many wonderful memories of his classes. I would also love news of Anne Beams. Comments: Glad to have found the Brats. I'm moving to Nashville in June (07) after my youngest son (of four) graduates from HS. I've been busy for the past 25 years 'mothering',divorced in 1995 and plan to change my name back to Yeaworth when I move. I was sad to see that Mr. Fenstermacher passed away. I have often thought of him over the years as he was so supportive of my singing. Have done lots of singing over the years, but gave-up the idea of a career when the babies started coming. My first standing "O" was at the 1970 spring concert! "You're going to be a star" Mr. "F" said. "People" Life takes all sorts of twists and turns. I was going to move to Nashville in 1977 to have a life of music there, but my father stopped me. So, I'm starting over in 2007 and looking forward to singing again. My father, who directed "The Blob" was killed in a car accident in July 2004, outside Petra, Jordan, where he was working on a project. Life has changed drastically for me and my family and as I worked for him on/off all of my life, it has been a big adjustment. I lived w/my sister Kathy and her husband Doug Whittle (Air Force) while I was @BAHS. My mother has moved to SC to live with them there. I am writing a book about life with my father and hope to find a publisher this year. Last time that I was in Germany was in 2000, but, haven't been back to BERLIN since I left in 1970.
