Commissioned as Infantry 2 LT in 1968.
Served with 4th Infantry Division in Vietnam (69-79).
Served with 6th Infantry and 82nd Airborne Divisions in US.
Attended law school on Army sponsored program; branch transferred to Judge Advocate
Generals Corps upon completion of law school.
As JAG served as Chief Criminal Law with the 8th Infantry Division, Germany; as the Deputy
Legal Advisor, Dept. of the Army Inspector General; Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, III Corps &
Ft Hood; Staff Judge, Ft Sam Houston; Staff Judge Advocate, Combined Field Army, Korea; and
Staff Judge Advocate, 5th US Army.
Retired as colonel in 1992. |

ASSOCIATION (1994 – 2008)
Planned, coordinated and implemented legislative, regulatory and advocacy priorities and
strategies, under the general direction of association officers and executive committee, for
a national non-profit legal educational association; coordinated and prepared testimony for
association officers to testify before Congressional committees and agency or departmental
administrative boards; established and maintained liaison with Congress and the Executive
Branch to include Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, Department of
Justice, FBI, and Drug Enforcement Administration; advised on, and coordinated, amici brief to
the Supreme Court in support of association issues.
Current Retirement Job:
ATTORNEY-ADVISOR, OFFICE OF MILITARY COMMISSIONS TRIAL JUDICIARY,
DEFENSE LEGAL SERVICES AGENCY, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE
Provide accurate legal and procedural advice and support to 10 military judges, in real world
time, both in the US and at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to ensure fair criminal proceedings for
terrorists accused of war crimes. |
